La-33 in Concert all over Europe

This group is HOT! I'm listening to them as I write this and am restraining myself from not getting up and dancing. I could dance to them ALL NIGHT LONG! Their music is super sexy and modern sounding. Plus they have a great web site to boot.

Check out their web site and listen to their music here: http://www.la-33.co

La-33 is hard-swinging salsa & Latin Jazz band from Bogota, Columbia. From this 12-piece, classic salsa orchestra expect the soulful, rough-edged style of classic 70s Fania - Eddie Palmieri, Ruben Blades and Willie Colon - but expect also to hear almost 100% new, self-composed material performed by a brilliant three-line vocal section against a rich two-trombone/trumpet/sax brass section. The material covers politics and social issues as well as personal relationships. They do La Pantera Mambo by none other than Henry Mancini. This band generates excitement and does it with a sense of humor.

Founded in 2002 in Bogotá by two brothers Sergio and Santiago Mejia. In 2004 they released their first record, titled “LA-33, as an independent production. It won immediate success for its arrangements, lyrics, clean recording and great sound.

Every La-33 musician comes from a different musical background: rock, funk, ska, folk, classical music, fusion and jazz. Perhaps it’s this diversity that is one of the secrets of this ensemble’s success. They’re known as the rockers of salsa because they combine the true swing and sabor of the classic salsa orchestra with true rock’n'roll attitude.

La-33 is fresh and without pretensions, communicating the multiple textures, flavors and colors of a city that as Bogota. The sound of the 33 is sincere, besides inviting us to the base vital self-confidence in the dance, the lyrics remind us that doing music is not more than a simple celebration of the simple fact to be alive and to be able to observe the world with eyes self-assured and overwhelmed with joy: “Way by the city I go pa´ lante I go pa´tra/I watch the people who come and go and this fills to me of happiness”
