||Larry Harlow is one of the great masters of Salsa.
His extensive musical education helped produce his music talents which
include playing Jazz and Classical piano, conducting, composition,
orchestration, and audio engineering. Larry Harlow also plays oboe, English
horn, flute, bass, vibraphone and assorted percussion instruments.
During the mid 50ís, he was captured by the infectious
spirit of Latin music. He went on to live in Cuba and studied authentic
Afro-Cuban melodies and rhythms that are the origins of modern day Salsa. He
returned to New York with his own unique style and became a founding member of
the internationally famous "Fania All-Stars" group. His 15 years with the Fania
All-Stars were extremely productive. He recorded over 25 solo albums, including
his Grammy nominated album "La Raza Latina" and produced countless recordings
for other musicians. He has received numerous awards from Billboard and Record
World and has six gold records to his credit. Larry Harlow was an important
force in attaining greater recognition of Latin artists by promoting the
establishment of the first Grammy for Latin Music.
Larry Harlow is constantly cultivating larger, more diverse audiences for
Latin music. He created and composed the first Salsa opera, "Hommy", which he
orchestrated and conducted at Carnegie Hall and repeated in San Juan, Puerto
Rico to rave reviews. He was the associate producer and co-starred in two
breakthrough Salsa films of the 1970s, " Our Latin Thing" and "Salsa". Now he is
producing a Latin music production for Ziggy Marley in Miami, Florida.
Larry Harlow continues to perform and tour internationally in Europe, Central
and South America, Finland, Africa, and Japan as well as all major markets in
